So my main seal is leaking, it is my understanding that the main seal is located by the transmission, I had my transmission replaced a while ago. Could this have happened because of the person who replaces the transmission?

Could? Possibly.
More likely your old transmission damaged the seal, and the mechanic overlooked the damage.
But no real way of proving anything.

The rear main seal is on the end of the engine behind the flywheel. They did nothing to that seal when they replaced the transmission. It wore out like everything else. To replace that seal, unfortunately, the transmission will have to come out again. This time, replace the flywheel pilot bearing and the throwout bearing, as well as the rear main seal.

No, not very likely. It is behind the flywheel and the crank flange and is not likely to have been touched just to change a transmission.

Yup. It wasn’t replaced while the transmission was replaced. Now the transmission needs to be dropped, and the main seal replaced. It isn’t too hard for most cars. Seal is inexpensive. Any mechanic should be able to do it...they need a lift and a jack cart to lower the transmission.
