Is a blood pressure of 129/86 enough to be put on meds?

A reasonable doctor would never put someone on medication for those numbers. A greedy, money driven one might.

It would to be over a week or so, not a one off., and depending on age.

Depends on your age and whether that BP is an anomaly or chronic. While the HBP is OK, your LBP is a bit on the high side. And some claim the LBP is the most critical for strokes and heart attacks because that pressure is continuous. The HBP is intermittent.

In any case, see an MD. You might be able to pull down your diastolic (the LBP) by simply changing your diet and/or losing a bit of weight.

probably not. ideally, anything under 120/80 is good. unless you have other medical issues going on, that usually just means you need to adjust your diet and exercise more.

if it's been more than a year, see a doctor and get a physical. fast 12 hours before hand to get basic blood work done too. then you can go over what you need to change to get healthy.

Not that I have experienced. But it could mean youre on your way to hypertension/needing meds: so cut down salt intake (check labels), drink more water, eat more fresh fruits/veggies, lean meats, lose weight if needed, exercise...and drinking pomegranate juice daily (as recommended by my grandmother) has helped me. Added: my husband thinks raw beats are the way to go for heart health too but I cant do that.. too gross for me
