I assume you're talking about solid state drives.
Have you done a speed check on your drive? A simple sustained read test should be 500 MB/s for run of the mill SSDs (original SATA interface). Better SSDs (NVMe) will run at >2000MB/s.
You have a number of limitations here, what the SSD can do and what the motherboard can do. Check the specs and run a speed check. Write speed checks are also worthwhile.
Also check which version SSD your motherboard can handle.
