  • Ive had my power chair for a year and it now needs some adjustment. I use it only in the house. A simple ratchet wrench will work. I have two old manual chairs. Both cause minor problems. One has a tire rim that is slightly bent and causes me to have to push a tiny bit extra when I get to that spot. (I use it in my basement.) The other has experience some rust, so it is definitely harder to push than it once was. I use it for Lyft rides.) I have two mobility scooters. The one is the typical one I use outdoors and I have it checked and adjusted every year. It is about 10 years old and it controls have needed to be replaced once because they were erratic. Sometimes they indicated a completely different power level than it was actually using. My other scooter is for going for with my partner to do walking and climbing trails and it has needed no repairs so far. So all kinds of things can happen. I used to go to a medical repair place, but now I just goto my gas station repair and they can do what I need a lot more cheaply. I also go to Batteries Plus when my batteries need replaing or need to be checked. They guarantee your batteries for a year. I've gotten two free sets in the 10 or so years I done this. Monster Scooter parts is the best place to get needed replacement parts. I've gotten new chargers, a tire replaced, and controls replaced from them.

There are several different possibilities for why a wheelchair might coast more than expected. It could be a software issue, a controller problem, the brakes, or you might be using it on steeper inclines than it was designed for. Only calling a service technician will get to the bottom of the problem.
