Can I place my crock pot in the oven while it s (the crock pot) is on?

I want to use my crock pot, and I don t THINK my cats would mess with it, but cat logic, ya know? I m a little worried about leaving my crock pot on, without me at home, but preventing the cats from going into the kitchen would be difficult. Could I place the crock pot in the oven? The oven wouldn t be turned on. The crock pot would be on low.

I wouldn't do that. My cat was a devil, and I mean D-E-V-I-L, Lol, she got into everything, she even sometimes opened kitchen cabinets - knocked stuff off the shelves - but she never touched the slow cooker - perhaps because it was hot.

The outside of the slow cooker does not get hot enough to harm a cat, dog, small child....

If the cat did get near it if anything they may curl up next to it because of the warmth.

the cords on appliances like that are so short it would not reach the oven and you do not want to use an extension cord particularly if you will not be home.

And lastly since cats have no opposable thumbs they can not lift the lid and have dinner before you get home.

Cats aren't going to bother it, too hot and the lid is too heavy even if it wasn't too hot. Have you ever heard of "The Hot Stove Theory" well cats are very receptive to this and it will only take one time to train them away from a hot crock pot and I have owned a lot of cats they are very smart and careful.

You can always to a test and add a quart of water and a can of tuna in the pot turn it on and leave it for a day and see what happens.....but really I don't think anything negative would happen. A motion sensing camera could prove to be amusing though.

Just put it in another room. Maybe on a dresser in your bedroom? Then close them out of the bedroom.

Wtf no! Dont do that! If you're that worried about your cats messing with something hot then dont use it.

If your cats burn their little paws on the crock they will never touch it again. Cats are cautious. I don't think you have anything to worry about, either about your cats or your dinner.

If you have an extension cord there's no reason you couldn't set it in the stove.

Not a very good idea. It is not supposed to go into anything. It needs to be out, especially when slow simmering a meal all day long. If you place it in your oven, you run the risk of starting a fire. The crock pot needs an open space to work properly, the oven does not qualify as an OPEN space. If you are afraid of your cats getting into a crockpot, perhaps you need to block them from going into your kitchen. The only way you could place a crock pot into an oven is if the pot is unplugged and u just use the oven for keeping the meal warm (making sure that the oven is not on either). .

I doubt the cord will reach that far. Can't you put it in a room and close the door to that room?
