Jehovah's Witnesses. How does the Great Crowd obtain life?

So I had a chat with a JW who had set up a magazine cart at the local Sunday morning market. He asks if I went to the memorial. I said no we have our own passover meal at home where we have red wine and lamb kebabs, because at John 6:53 you must partake or there is no life in you.

He of course responded that Jesus was only speaking to his disciples who are anointed. (incorrect - he was speaking at the synagogue)

So the next verse where he says "whosoever"? That means the anointed too.

So I ask him "how do the non anointed gain life?" and he says "taking in knowledge".

Ah, John 17:3. So I point out that there he is also speaking to his disciples who are anointed. How do you decide that one applies to you but John 6:53 applies to someone else?

After which he remarked that it certainly was great speaking with me, and seemed to have other business involving standing a bit further away.

So can JWs explain?

It's a free gift. You cannot obtain it.

Interesting that you asked an almost identical Q on Wednesday, with 23 answers (most of them from JWs). I also answered after waiting 13 hours to see the JW response - then that question was deleted. I'm glad you have re-posted, just substituting 'someone' for 'the Great Crowd'. Since Wednesday, I've 'lost' 12 of my answers even though I've not been notified that any of them have been reported. There is absolutely a vendetta going on here, as Juli has also noticed.

To answer your Q, the Great Crowd has been told by their elite core of 'anointed' ones that they must come to the Organization to obtain life.

You Can Live Forever In Paradise On Earth, revised 1989, p255 “Do not conclude that there are different roads, or ways, that you can follow to gain life in God’s new system. There is only one. There was just one ark that survived the Flood, not a number of boats. And there will be only one organization- God’s visible organization – that will survive the fast-approaching “great tribulation.” It is simply not true that all religions lead to the same goal . . . . You must be part of Jehovah’s organization, doing God’s will, in order to receive his blessing of everlasting life.”

Watchtower Feb 15 1983 p12 “Similarly, Jehovah is using only one organization today to accomplish his will. To receive everlasting life in the earthly Paradise we must identify that organization and serve God as part of it.”

Watchtower September 15, 1993, p22 “But if we were to draw away from Jehovah’s organization, there would be no place else to go for salvation and true joy.”

Kingdom Ministry, November, 1990 “Directing Bible Students to Jehovah’s Organization - They must appreciate that identifying themselves with Jehovah’s organization is essential to their salvation.”

Kingdom Ministry, April, 1993 “Direct Interest Progressively on Bible Studies – The primary purpose of a Bible study is to teach the truth of God’s Word. It should also build in the student an appreciation for Jehovah’s organization and make him aware of the vital need to become part of it. ... The weekly Bible study should include instruction that will help students appreciate the organization and take advantage of provisions for their salvation.”

It's clear that the Great Crowd know, and believe, that they will never obtain life if they don't stick like glue to the Organization, following its instructions. Now I wait for either this question or my answer to be removed.

Glad to see you post this after JW Brian, his multiple accounts, and cult brethren mass reported this.

They've been mass reporting like mad.

I just keep posting until they tire of of their dishonest behavior.

It's funny when they scoot away from hard questions.

I watch "cart crash" videos on You Tube and most of the JWs pack up their carts and flee to a new location, when they can't muster up an answer

Those videos are enlightening and entertaining.

Amid these dire circumstances, John received an exciting prophetic vision. In it, angels are told to hold back the destructive winds of the great tribulation until the final sealing of a group of slaves. (Rev. 7:1-3) That group is made up of 144,000 who will rule with Jesus in heaven. (Luke 12:32; Rev. 7:4) Then John mentions another group, so vast that he exclaims: “Look!”—an expression that may indicate his surprise at seeing something unexpected. What does John see? “A great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.” (Read Revelation 7:9-14.)
