Can health insurance cover costs for previous visits to a doctor?

    yes if it's within the I think last 6 months if u had that particular insurance at time of visit and it was active

    Of course not. Health Insurance only covers health costs from the day it is enforce.

    If you had insurance at the time you saw the doctor, they can still bill the insurance for their share of the cost. If insurance covered every visit when you were not paying monthly premiums, they would lose money.

    Only time I have ever seen this is Medicaid...

    Its just like car insurance, you have to buy it before something happens...

    Only if you have medicaid, and they only go back a small amount of time.

    No, insurance cannot cover anything that happened before you first got insurance.

    They do not cover visits prior to the effective date of your coverage, unless you are now covered under Medicaid. Medicaid will cover visits up to 3 months prior to the date you received coverage. Under regular health insurance, you would also have a deductible to meet.

    If you got the insurance after the care, then no. Just like car insurance wont cover an accident prior to the coverage

    Of course not, unless you were covered at the time of the visit. Then it’s possible, but not guaranteed.
