Ford Focus ST MK3 clicking on steering?
Hi, I have recently noticed a clicking sound when turning the steering wheel on my ST. It only really clicks when steering wheel is centred. I have jacked the front end up and once done the noise goes, suggesting its links to a load bearing problem. There is no play in steering wheel and suspension seems fine. A mechanic has suggested steering rack problem but I was just wondering if anyone out there with this model or any other car has come across anything similar? Before I take this into Ford and fork out a fortune. Any ideas would be grateful. Cheers

so when jacked up no clicking ! on road /floor clicks . that would suggest something amiss but can be many things such as iron component or mechanical issue .have we checked nothing. untoward anywheres near steering rack etc. a garage can most likely more easily trace fault and give an estimate for repairs. though such checks are not free.

Don't take it to Ford - they will take you to the cleaners.
Take it to a few mechanics and get quotes for fixing it.
