6.0 powerstroke coolant leak?

my truck will occasionally leak bad out of the degas cap which i know is usually a tell tale sign of a headgasket failure. truck is a daily driver and the leak has occured 3 or 4 times since i bought it 5 months ago. full diagnostic was just done on the truck last week (for a lag problem) and everything else came back normal. is this occurrence normal or is there something underlying it? any help would be appreciated

If your engine had a head gasket failure, it would be a constant issue, not just intermittent. What did the "full diagnostic" include? They usually just check the electrical systems and don't do cooling system pressure checks or mechanical checks.

Lots of GREAT information on the interweb - example - https://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/f23/coolant-l...

Search "Ford 6.0 powerstroke coolant leak degas bottle" or something in that word set and start reading

not enough information as to exactly when the overheating occurs BUT as a guess , if you have a viscous fan hub ( fan clutch) , replace it especially if the problem occurs in slow moving traffic or at stops
