They multiply to a negative value = one will be negative, one will be positive.

They add to a positive number = the positive one will have the bigger absolute value.

Just try a few, and narrow down to the answer:

We pick factors that multiply to -15

-1 and + 15, they add up to +14 = the positive is too high

-2 and 7.5, they add up to + 6.5 = the positive is too high

-3 and +5, they add up to +2 = just right

-5 and +3, they add up to -2 = the positive is too low

(I had to add the step with 7.5 just to make it longer - also, later in life, you may have to think about the numbers being fractions)

This trick often works when you do not feel like doing harder calculations.
