If you are a US Citizen,19 years old, are you allowed to drink alcoholic beverages in Cozumel, Mexico?

If you show a US ID or Passport that shows your age of 19 years old, are you still allowed to drink in Cozumel nightclubs or bars/hotels? I am going for a trip in the next month, and are wondering before I make myself look stupid lol.

Update:

I heard if you had a US ID, you have to be 21. If you're Mexican, you have to at least 18.

Drinking age in Mexico is 18 years of age, no matter where you come from. As for looking stupid, after drinking, you won't care one way or the other. If you're going to stay at a resort, it's best to do your drinking there. Going out to night clubs and bars getting wasted is not a good idea unless your in a group. The resorts have good nightly entertainment and plenty of bars, and you don't have a long distance to travel to your room.

The drinking age is the same for everyone, wherever they're from. When you are in a country you follow the laws of that country, not the one you're from. People in the UK drive on the left side of the road. Would you expect them to follow the same rule in the US? No. Local laws are the ones that apply.

Yes, Thousands of college students take cruises every year for the specific purpose of drinking in the ports in Mexico. They come back drunk and rowdy because they've never learned to hold their liquor. They are not, however, allowed to drink on the ship if they are under 21.

The legal drinking age in Mexico is 18. It doesn't matter if you're a local or a tourist.

Unless the resort wants to set a higher age limit, drinking ages are set by the country's laws that you are in, not where you came from.

Nope you'll be hunted down for the rest of your life by the FBI. Then when caught will be thrown in prison for 80 years.

Of course. Drinking restrictions are local, not tied to country of origin. If you live in a dry county, you can't buy booze locally, but doesn't mean you can't anywhere else.
