Will 4g phones still work when 5g networks come out?

I have a t mobile zmax z970 4g phone and was wondering how much longer I will be able to use it. Will it stop working when 5g comes out? This really worries me because I need to be able to use my old phone due to a medical condition. The newer phone screens make my tics so bad that life is unlivable. I tried seeing multiple doctors and trying medication and supplements but nothing works. Will I be able to use my old 4g t mobile phone once 5g networks are used? If anyone knows of a solution that will allow me to use newer screens without making my tics worse, I am also happy to hear what you have to say.

Yes, 4G/LTE will not be going away anytime soon. 3G/H+ won't be going away anytime soon either. It's called marketing.

I don't see why not. 2G phones still worked when 3G came out & the same for 3G phones in the case of 4G.

The cellular data technology, which is what 1G-5G is, is separate from the phone network.

As far as the newer display tech, likely OLED you are referring to, & them giving you tics could be PWM

Yes - for a while. How long is a while? It depends on the carrier and the population of 4G subscribers/users they have - and how motivated (financially) they carrier is to migrate their customers to 5G so 4G can be shut-down (and the frequencies re-farmed). For the larger carriers with 4G deployed today and building their 5G networks, it will take some time for that build-out and the customer migration will also take some time. Both 4G and 5G will be operational in parallel for at least a few years.

Historical perspective: It took ~10 years for analog systems to fully migrate over to 3G digital cellular... It took ~8 years for 4G ubiquity. 5G buildouts are just starting in most of the world, so estimate 6-8 years for that to complete and all the terminals to be replaced.

That phone is very old, you should upgrade your phone. I used to have a ZMAX in like 2014.
