Start writing and keep writing. Have you taken a technical writing class or two?Thing is many things in this life, writing, playing music, cooking, fine carpentry, sports, all have one thing in common: the more you do it the better you get. You will never get better without lots of practice. Ever hear a great musician play? They are always practicing. You watch a football or baseball player make a great play, they have done it thousands of times. Practice.

As you go through life you will find that most people are so busy worrying about what others think of them that they don't think about you. Others will criticize you no matter what you do or don't do. They play to your reaction. Just say OK and disregard them. If they don't get a reaction they will find other prey elsewhere.
As far as writing goes Just write for you until you like it. When you get good at it share it with others. Do that a lot and it will improve.

Whatever you do, people will make fun of you all the time, whether you write or not. So why think about them? It's kind of a defeatist approach. You should write because you want to. You should write because you have ideas. You should write for yourself, not for anyone else. Why allow someone who doesn't like you dictate what you should or shouldn't do?
