My best friend lives 400 miles from me. We met up recently for a few days for the first time in four years, and it was as if we'd never been apart.

I don't think so, but I may be biased since I'm kind of a distant friend. Both physically and mentally, truth be told. My nearest friend lives about an hour away, and my best friend lives over three hours away with plans to move across the country again. We don't speak every day, sometimes we can go weeks without talking; but when we do talk it's like we've never missed a beat. Maybe they've grown used to my introverted lifestyle, maybe I'm just lucky to have such understanding people in my life. All I know is, whenever they truly need me, I'm there. I've survived long drives and nights in the hospitals and break ups and all kinds of things with them, and our bond has never faltered because of the distance. It gets harder the more you grow up to remain in close contact with people; friends get married and move, have kids which eat up a lot of their time, etc. The connection only dies if you let it, but don't cling to a friend who makes you feel judged or isolated just because you miss what you once had. Sometimes people grow apart, and that's okay, too. Not everyone is meant to be a part of your life forever.

no, some of the people who are furthest away make better friends then the ones right in your own city..just saying.
