The holy spirit is God’s power in action, his active force. (Micah 3:8; Luke 1:35) God sends out his spirit by projecting his energy to any place to accomplish his will.—Psalm 104:30; 139:7.

In the Bible, the word “spirit” is translated from the Hebrew word ruʹach and the Greek word pneuʹma. Most often, those words refer to God’s active force, or holy spirit. (Genesis 1:2) However, the Bible also uses those words in other senses:

    Breath.—Habakkuk 2:19; Revelation 13:15.

    Wind.—Genesis 8:1; John 3:8.

The vital, or animating, force in living creatures.—Job 34:14, 15.

    A person’s disposition or attitude.—Numbers 14:24.

Spirit persons, including God and the angels.—1 Kings 22:21; John 4:24.

These meanings all share the sense of something invisible to humans that produces visible effects. Similarly, the spirit of God, “like the wind, is invisible, immaterial and powerful.”—An Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words, by W. E. Vine.

The Bible also refers to God’s holy spirit as his “hands” or “fingers.” (Psalm 8:3; 19:1; Luke 11:20; compare Matthew 12:28.) Just as a craftsman uses his hands and fingers to do his work, God has used his spirit to produce such results as the following:

    The universe.—Psalm 33:6; Isaiah 66:1, 2.

    The Bible.—2 Peter 1:20, 21.

The miracles performed by his ancient servants and their zealous preaching.—Luke 4:18; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11.

The fine qualities displayed by people who obey him.—Galatians 5:22, 23.

The holy spirit is not a person

By referring to God’s spirit as his “hands,” “fingers,” or “breath,” the Bible shows that the holy spirit is not a person. (Exodus 15:8, 10) A craftsman’s hands cannot function independent of his mind and body; likewise, God’s holy spirit operates only as he directs it. (Luke 11:13) The Bible also compares God’s spirit to water and associates it with such things as faith and knowledge. These comparisons all point to the impersonal nature of the holy spirit.—Isaiah 44:3; Acts 6:5; 2 Corinthians 6:6.

The Bible gives the names of Jehovah God and of his Son, Jesus Christ; yet, nowhere does it name the holy spirit. (Isaiah 42:8; Luke 1:31) When the Christian martyr Stephen was given a miraculous heavenly vision, he saw only two persons, not three. The Bible says: “He, being full of holy spirit, gazed into heaven and caught sight of God’s glory and of Jesus standing at God’s right hand.” (Acts 7:55) The holy spirit was God’s power in action, enabling Stephen to see the vision.

If the Holy Spirit was not a Person, why did Jesus Christ always refer to the Holy Spirit as "He"?

The JW teaching about the Holy Spirit is one where they depart entirely from scripture.

When some of the religious leaders accused Jesus of performing miracles by the power of Satan, he gave them a very strong rebuke about blaspheming.

(Mark 3:28-29); “I tell you the truth, all sin and blasphemy can be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. This is a sin with eternal consequences.”

This shows us that speaking against the Holy Spirit is somehow more serious than speaking against God or Jesus Christ. This should give us great pause when teaching and speaking about the Holy Spirit.

The Watchtower organization teaches; “The holy spirit is not a person and it is not a part of a Trinity. The holy spirit is God’s active force that he uses to accomplish his will. . . . To a certain extent, it can be likened to electricity.”

But is this what the scriptures teach?

The Bible teaches us that the Holy Spirit displays EMOTIONS. ‘Sadness’ (Ephesians 4:30). ‘Love’ (Romans 15:30). He can be ‘insulted’ (Hebrews 10:29).

The Bible teaches us that the Holy Spirit possesses INTELIGENCE. He ‘Teaches’ (John 14:26), (Luke 12:12). He possesses KNOWLEDGE. (1 Corinthians 2:11-12). He gives INSTRUCTIONS. (Acts 15:28), (John 16:13). He can be RESISTED. (1 Thessalonians 5:19). He PREVENTS (Acts 16:6). He DECIDES. (1 Corinthians 12:7-11:). He SPEAKS. (Acts 11:12). He CONVICTS (John 16:8). He PRAYS. (Romans 8:26-27). He forms RELATIONSHIPS with believers. (2 Corinthians 13:14;).

Are all these attributes of PERSONALITY possible with an active force like electricity?

The Watchtower society formerly taught that the Holy Spirit WAS a person.

    See:

“I am beginning to think Age-to-come people, and many others among pre-millennialists, do not believe in anything of a spiritual nature, or have the most remote comprehension of things of that order; either that the saint is raised "a spiritual body," or in the existence of spiritual beings, or even of the Holy Spirit itself. I know one class of age-to-come believers, the Christadelphians, do not. The Holy Spirit, say they, is but a principle, or element of power, and not an intelligence. It is nothing more nor less than electricity;” is taught in one of their books, now before me. (The Three Worlds, and the Harvest of This World 1877 pp. 57-58).

The question we ask is was the watchtower organization in the truth then, or is it in the truth now? If it is in the truth now, it wasn’t in the truth then. If it was in the truth then, it isn’t in the truth now.

Therefore, the whole idea of "national and racial equality" is completely misconstrued and misinterpreted, because nowhere in the Bible does it say that there will be equal numbers of people who are from every nation and tribe.

Jehovah's Witnesses believes that the most powerful force in the universe, is Jehovah's holy spirit, or active force. The holy spirit is not a person. (Acts 2:1-4, 17)

    Beguiled Jehovah Witness believe:

That Jesus the Christ of Nazareth, the Messiah is inferior to God, which is contrary to John 1:1-18 and 1 Timothy 3:16 that proves Jesus is God.

Man does not have a spirit which is contrary to Gal 3:14.

That Jesus is the Archangel Michael, which is contrary to The Word of God (The Tree of Life, Light, Love, Wisdom, Understanding and Knowledge) as John 1:1-14, 14-9 reveals.

That Jesus second coming happened in 1914.

That we are to worship Jehovah only, which is contrary to John 1:1-14.

JWs believe that satan is the invisible ruler of the world; not true, God rules over satan.

JWs believe that only 144,000 thousand go to heaven; again not true: John 3:16 tells us otherwise.

JWs believe that hell is mankind's common grave; not even close:

The place of eternal punishment for the unrighteous. The NKJV and KJV use this word to translate Sheol and Hades, the Old and New Testament words, respectively, for the abode of the dead.

Hell as a place of punishment translates Gehenna

, the Greek form of the Hebrew word that means "the vale of Hinnom"-a valley just south of Jerusalem. In this valley the Canaanites worshiped Baal and the fire-god Molech by sacrificing their children in a fire that burned continuously. Even Ahaz and Manasseh, kings of Judah, were guilty of this terrible, idolatrous practice (2 Chron 28:3; 33:6).

The prophet Jeremiah predicted that God would visit such destruction upon Jerusalem that this valley would be known as the "Valley of Slaughter" (Jer 7:31-34; 19:2,6). In his religious reforms, King Josiah put an end to this worship. He defiled the valley in order to make it unfit even for pagan worship (2 Kings 23:10).

In the time of Jesus the Valley of Hinnom was used as the garbage dump of Jerusalem. Into it were thrown all the filth and garbage of the city, including the dead bodies of animals and executed criminals. To consume all this, fires burned constantly. Maggots worked in the filth. When the wind blew from that direction over the city, its awfulness was quite evident. At night wild dogs howled and gnashed their teeth as JWs fought over the garbage.

Jesus used this awful scene as a symbol of hell. In effect he said, "Do you want to know what hell is like? Look at the valley of Gehenna." So hell may be described as God's "cosmic garbage dump." All that is unfit for heaven will be thrown into hell.

The word Gehenna occurs 12 times in the New Testament. Each time it is translated as "hell." With the exception of James 3:6, it is used only by Jesus (Matt 5:22,29-30; 10:28; 23:15,33; Mark 9:43,45,47; Luke 12:5). In Matt 5:22; 18:9; and Mark 9:47, it is used with "fire" as "hell fire." So the word hell (Gehenna) as a place of punishment is used in the New Testament by Him who is the essence of infinite love.

In Mark 9:46 and 48, hell is described as a place where "their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched." Repeatedly Jesus spoke of outer darkness and a furnace of fire, where there will be wailing, weeping, and gnashing of teeth (Matt 8:12; 13:42,50; 22:13; 24:51; 25:30; Luke 13:28). Obviously this picture is drawn from the valley of Gehenna

The Book of Revelation describes hell as "a lake of fire burning with brimstone" (Rev 19:20; 20:10,14-15; 21:8). Into hell will be thrown the beast and the false prophet (Rev 19:20). At the end of the age the devil himself will be thrown into it, along with death and hades and all whose names are not in the Book of Life. "And JWs will be tormented day and night forever and ever" (Rev 20:10 b).

Because of the symbolic nature of the language, some people question whether hell consists of actual fire. Such reasoning should bring no comfort to the lost. The reality is greater than the symbol. The Bible exhausts human language in describing heaven and hell. The former is more glorious, and the latter more terrible, than language can express.

JWs believe that the soul dies at death of the body; no, the soul is more than just the living essence of the body: The word soul also refers to the inner life of man, the seat of his emotions, and the center of human personality. The first use of the word soul in the Old Testament expresses this meaning: "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being (soul)" (Gen 2:7). This means more than being given physical life; the biblical writer declares that man became a "living soul," or a person, a human being, one distinct from all other animals. The soul is described as the seat of many emotions and desires: the desire for food (Deut 12:20-21), love (Song 1:7), longing for God (Ps 63:1), rejoicing (Ps 86:4), knowing (Ps 139:14), and memory (Lam 3:20). In the New Testament, Jesus spoke of his soul as being "exceedingly sorrowful" (Matt 26:38). Mary, the mother of Jesus, proclaimed that her soul "magnifies the Lord" (Luke 1:46). John prayed that Gaius would "prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers" (3 John 2).

JWs believe that the Earth will never be destroyed or depopulated. Wrong, Rev 21:1-2

1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

    KJV

JWs believe that Jesus died for only the obedient. Not true for we have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God.

JWs also believe that Jesus is inferior to God and do not believe in the Trinity. Yet Jesus said: “Matt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”

JWs believe the Earth will never be destroyed or depopulated but in fact God will create New Heavens and a new Earth along with new physical laws. God’s people will be removed from the old Earth and placed on the New Earth as Matthew 24:31, Mark 13:27 and Thessalonians 4:16-17 reveals.

JWs believe that the wicked with be destroyed but the wicked will be eternally punished as Daniel 12:1-2, Matthew 25:46 and Mark 3:29 reveal.

JWs believe the human soul ceases to exist at death but the Truth is the Spirit of those who have accepted Jesus the Christ of Nazareth, the Messiah as their personal savior goes directly to Heaven/God as Ecclesiastes 3:21 and 12:7 reveal.

They call holy spirit Jehovah's active force, disregarding the fact that it's impossible to blaspheme an active force.

That It's not a conscious entity but rather God's power. Persons with God's spirit on them were able to a wide variety of miracles, have wisdom, God used it to write the 10 commandments on stone tablets etc.

It is the Holy Spirit, but they deny the deity of the"trinity", the triune nature the living God that He has revealed to us.

I understand that the JW believe the Holy Spirit is NOT an entity or person, but rather the power, essence or force of God. I'm NOT a JW.
