Ive never had a Samsung, only iphones and LG phones. I usually prefer iphones though.

I've had both, and it really depends on the model. I had a Note 3 which was a Grand Slam and the S6 I had was a dud because of battery issues. I'm currently using the iPhone 8 Plus which is reliable. My kid has had the S8 for 2 years and that's served her well.
IMHO, if you're going to surf the web with a browser more than using the apps then get a Samsung. Make sure to get a good case, nothing cheap, and a decent screen protector. I've been using the Otterbox commuter cases and they've done an excellent job of keeping my phone from cracking.
One of the downsides of the S series that I see is they don't work with the so called Glass Screen protectors.

None. Samsung quality has gone down in recent years. I would get a lg. I have a galaxy note 9 and the screen cracked and the screen protector did not save it. Also, the charger port is mest up know too.

I've had Samsung phones for 15 years, never had one fail on me yet. I've had this j3 2017 now for a year, Samsung have just upgraded it to pie and I'm more than happy with the £150 ($185) I paid for it.
