Is it possible that Disney and/or Hollywood has been secretly adding their own money into their movies' box office?

Films like Captain Marvel, Black Panther and the four Transformers sequels?

No, they know how to promote and pack the theaters. If a film is going to flop, they will just let it go, because the other films the studio produces are way too profitable.

Captain Marvel and Black Panther were packed tight for the whole first week. I attended both during the first week. What they did for those Marvel movies is they linked them altogether, like a TV series, building on the Avengers storyline. Transformers didn't appeal to me, so I didn't watch those ones.

But no, they would never fake numbers. That would be illegal and doing it would be much more costly than just letting a flopped movie go. Plus, Disney and other major studios know how to make huge profits, even on films that flop. You will find them on redbox and netflix, which they make money from (not as much but some.) Then people feel like if they missed the movie, they should at least pay a dollar or watch it on netflix for free.

Possible, yet. But very doubtful. Movies still make a LOT of money.

That's kind of like asking if the government really has aliens at Area 51. It's crazy conspiracy theory. Studios exist to make money. If a movie doesn't make money, they don't pad the box office. They write it off and change their plans. There have been several huge flops over the years as far as planned franchises, from The Lone Ranger to John Carter of Mars to the DCEU and the planned Universal Monster-verse. The response from the studios has been to either kill the franchise or to retool to try and fix the problems. Making more sequels that nobody wants to see means losing money.

If they did, they run at risk with the government for manipulating the economy and the stock market. The idea, that studios are buying tickets for their own movies, was made by someone who did not understand economics.

Plus, studios make most of their money in merchandising sales.

You mean to make them appear more successful than they really are?

I dont think they would really do that.

Perhaps Star Wars. Those recent films suck.
