I have 4 bottles of 4 oz hair dye in a gallon zip lock bag. Can I bring it on a plane as carry on or do I have to put in in my check bag?

The 4 oz bottles are too big, as the maximum size allowed in carry-on baggage is 3.4 oz (100 ml).

You'll have to carry them in your checked bag, and be sure to wrap them individually in case of leakage.

Three ounces is the limit for carryon.

4oz bottles have to go in your checked bag.

In your carry-on bag, container size for liquid/gel items is limited to 3.4oz and you can only take as many as you can fit into a single QUART-sized baggie.

3.4 ounce bottles and they MUST all be in one quart sized zip lock bag.

    NOT COMPLICATED.

Liquids in carry on must be in containers of less than 3.4 ounces.

As your containers are larger they can go in your checked luggage.

Suggest you package each one in its own plastic bag just in case they leak or break..
