Ovarian cysts?

I’ve been having pain on my left side especially during urination. It’s been going on for a week already. I went to the hospital and they said it’s a cyst and to take pain pills. Will it go away on its own or?? What treatments are available? I’m a college student and would prefer not to miss class because of surgery. How long does it take to recover if it were to get too big?

There's no way to tell without a sonogram how big your ovarian cysts are. Most don't require surgery because they reduce on their own. Normally, the ovaries form small cysts upon release of an egg and you don't feel this. When you start to get pains, tis something for your gynecologist to keep an eye on. Pain management is necessary during times like this, but you shouldn't automatically assume you need surgery until a doctor says you do.
