If you have the know how to do that you could hammer out some jerry rig exposed wires to flow in enough electricity for 1 or 2 minutes worth.
But I don't and it is not worth it to buy a proper AC charger for it.

Hi.
There's a TON of things You could do with it, all would make it more than worth a quick $15US search for a charger on Amazon.
If it is Win7 days it will very easily run most of the 400+ linux versions available for free to download (have fun learning all the good stuff about computing on Your own terms) ...
And there are so many dedicated operating systems available like Lakka, Recalbox, or at least 5 other dedicated old-school video gamer systems that can easily turn it into a portable collection of about 15 old game consoles - running from a USB stick if You feel like it.
Then You get into the portable media systems like Kodi or Geexbox.
And if You can recover the harddrive that's in it, You can even just turn the laptop intio a multiple-boot linux box that can do all the above all at the same time ... there's a small utility called YUMI from a site called www.pendriveapps.com that allows You to install about 50 different operating systems in Live mode as well as different bootfiles that can use most of the mentioned linux systems.
And if You have kids or little brothers or sisters - fantastic way to get them learning computers without damaging Yours.
G'Luck!!!

You can easily find a replacement aftermarket charger on Ebay for it, which would allow you to power it up to test it and diagnose any problems. If something is broken, whether screen or otherwise, you can always buy replacement parts online. If the screen is in fact broken, you should be able to connect a regular monitor to get some sort of video output.

You probably could, but why? Other than being a fun little experiment, the HDD is probably too small to be of any use, the screen is broken, and you would have to find a charger. Other than being a nice guy and formatting the hdd so no one can get any info off it, there is little reason to get into it.
