Change your tone?

Can't keep a job. No disciplinary problems, no chemical dependencies, no performance issues. Extremely hard-worker, honest, dependable. Never talks back to anyone even when people yell and are extremely rude. Told to change my "tone". What does this mean?

I got told that at work once a long time ago.

What it meant to me was: "You're a bloody ****, and other employees are starting to complain about it."

You have an attitude problem and lack the self awareness of it.

It means your self-assessment is inaccurate.

If you think you've never been disciplined, have no performance issues and never give anyone any attitude, I wonder why you can't keep a job and your current employer has told you to change your "tone".

If you are unclear, perhaps you should ask your employer, not strangers on Yahoo.

Communication. It's a thing. And it might be a thing you need to work on.
