Other examples are From Hell (2001) and The Black Dahlia (2006).
I'm thinking of watching the Anthony Perkins film Edge of Sanity, which makes Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde Jack the Ripper; not sure I wanna watch it now.

I think it introduces new audiences to see and hear stories that they may not be familiar with, and if they are intellectually curious.......they might be interested in Learning the actual facts.
I mean ....hell, what Hollywood movie is actually factually accurate. ?
According to Hollywood movies, WW 2 was won by John Wayne.
