In my observations, Protestants tend to focus on Paul rather than Jesus. Paul simply expounded on and taught what Jesus taught. In the Catholic Church, they tend to use Paul as the Second Reading because he was the most prolific writer, but they use it to teach about what Jesus said.

Even though Paul quoted no direct teaching by the Lord Jesus on certain points; he certainly did have God’s spirit, for as noted by the apostle Peter, what Paul wrote was “according to the wisdom given him.” (2 Peter 3:15, 16) Thus, guided by God’s spirit, he was giving his opinion.
When Bible writers expressed such personal convictions, they did so against a background of study and application of the scriptures that were available to them. We can be sure that their writings harmonized with God’s thinking. What they recorded became part of God’s Word.

Paul expounded on Jesus, both his ministry and his words. Paul spoke truth to Christ-followers.

Because "all scripture is inspired of God", 2 Tim. 3:16, and Galatians 1:12 tells us that Paul received the gospel "through the revelation of Jesus Christ."

St. Paul wasnt a prophet, not even one of Jesus's deciples... He was a politician (sounds like Trump).. that wanted voters.. so he "trumped" up a scheme to get followers by changing christianity to suit the wants, needs, and likes of his followers..

I don't think of paul's sayings as "equal" to those of Jesus, but, in the same way that I would not reject any sayings/writings of Jesus, I also would not reject any of Paul's writings/sayings.

They are divinely inspired. Holy Spirit is just as much God as Jesus, and Paul was in agreement with God.
