In general, do student jobs have hours that are flexible when it comes to extracurriculars/school sports?

Generally speaking, would student jobs have flexible enough hours that would allow one to participate in school sports and extracurriculars? I know it mostly depends on what type of job it is and what company you work for. Are student jobs only flexible regarding school hours, or would they allow one to participate in after-school sports? In general, would it be possible to negotiate with the employers regarding this?

When you apply you put down the hours you are available on your application. Or when interviewed you write down your availability.

We hired a high schooler and she put down during these months I have volleyball and my availability will be this.

Places like McDonals are very flexible, but YOU need to inform them in a timely manner what your schedule will be or when it will change.

We know our community college employees will have a schedule change for second semester, but it is up to them to tell us their new availability as soon as they know it.

This is not an negotiation. You tell them when you are available to work and they decide if that will work for them. Right now we need people to work nights. If our applicant can’t work nights, we are not going to bring them in for an interview.
