What do you think about the claims that life was better in the past?
It seems to me that every generation thinks that life was better in what they call their own time than in present.

I disagree. Life is what it is and we either enjoy it or not... It's our choice!
I am almost sixty years old. I can tell you, many things are better now. Big, flat screen (color) TVs, cell phones, microwave ovens, the Internet, online banking and bill paying, computers, cars with air conditioning... The list goes on and on. I had a great time growing up, but it wasn't the world at that time that made it great. It was youth. I prefer the world of today.
We do have some serious problems now that we didn't way-back-when, but we are working on solutions too.
I know we can overcome these issues and my great-grandchildren will tell stories of how it was better way back when. LOL!

It was simpler and less stressful

I was born in 1957. That year America had 48 states. Airplanes were rare and very expensive. Only the rich could fly. When I was a child black people were only allowed to be in my town from 6am to 6pm. And only to pass through. They couldn't live there, sleep there, buy or rent houses, eat in restaurants, or enter any establishment. I didn't have a conversation with a black person until I was 14. I was run down by a car when I was 12. The ambulance was the local Hearst. It took almost an hour to drive to the nearest hospital. When I got there I was strapped to a bed with my left ankle tied next to my left ear. I had to sit there 3 days before a specialist could see me. The local doctor wouldn't give me any pain medication. Told my parents he didn't know how much to give to a child. For 3 days I screamed in pain and begged my grand parents, parents and the nurses to kill me. I lost my left let, left kidney, and left eye. My whole family was ostracized because the man who ran me down was a local politician (liberal of course) and he hated us because he had to pay for my medical care.
I think that people claim that life was better are full of BS.

Yahoo was definitely much better in the past - it can't carry on the way it's doing. :(
