Christians, are the tribes people on North Sentinel Island going to hell?
There's an an Island in the Indian Ocean called North Sentinel Island and it has a tribe of Sentinelese people that are some of the last people ever to contacted by modern civilisation.
They kill anyone foreigners that try and visit the island.
Since they had no opportunity to learn the teachings of Jesus Christ, do they still go to hell?
ever to be*

I'm not a Christian anymore, but I was taught that people who did not have the chance to hear about Christianity automatically went to heaven.
The obvious follow-up question I have is why teach them about Christianity then? Certainly, that would result is people going to hell who might not have otherwise.

Scripture does explain this, IF what you are saying is even true, since all tribes were reached during the last great era of 'visitation' when the entire world was traversed BEFORE the era of easy travel and information sharing arrived. Pretending that 'no one ever heard' isn't going to fly after rejecting the Covenant of universal forgiveness and brotherhood.
During this era, the 'medicine men' and comparable spiritual leaders reported having visions and dreams preparing them for the arrival of the missionaries, who often had to do very little but clarify minor points or interpretations using primitive forms of communication. They also arrived by command of GOD with a protective army armed 'two in twelve' according to the commands of Christ, (Luke 22:35-38), so that any violent resistance was met with equal force.
Christ's famous 'turn the other cheek' is not a contradiction to the 'two in twelve' rule because it was never about pacifism as many non-Christians like to claim, but is a restriction on lost causes and suicide missions when confronted by a clearly superior power, since GOD is present teaching the respective populations whenever He establishes a stable superior power. Resisting it means resisting GOD, (Romans 13:1). So we are taught to do the opposite, which is acknowledge GOD there with extra obedience.
So if ANY tribe was prepared with such a superior force to resist the gospel, it was not delivered because the decision of the tribe itself was already made. They could only make such a decision with a full knowledge. If this power was removed, that meant that GOD had prepared them for the message. Otherwise, it was up to the individual to leave their tribe and pursue Christ for themselves, (which also happened). In fact, delegates from every tribe came out to assist in the formation of the first 'university' system, which was dedicated to world peace through economic equality in Christ.
For the sake of argument, I will play along and assume that North Sentinel Islanders never heard the gospel, (even though they did, long ago and collectively rejected it). IF a tribe has truly never heard, then they exist under the Noahic Covenant, which is the Covenant GOD made with Noah:
1"And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. 2“The fear of you and the terror of you will be on every beast of the earth and on every bird of the sky; with everything that creeps on the ground, and all the fish of the sea, into your hand they are given. 3“Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant. 4“Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. 5“Surely I will require your lifeblood; from every beast I will require it. And from every man, from every man’s brother I will require the life of man.
6“Whoever sheds man’s blood,
By man his blood shall be shed,
For in the image of God
He made man.
7“As for you, be fruitful and multiply;
Populate the earth abundantly and multiply in it.” (Genesis 9:1-7).
Any tribe obeying these very basic precepts will survive to an era when they can hear the gospel. The souls departed during that interim are preserved until they hear the gospel also, (described in 1 Peter 3:19-20 as being 'imprisoned' and awaiting their opportunity). Those who don't receive the message or agree to the cross-tribal forgiveness of their enemies and personal repentance are punished according to their violations of the Noahic Laws in Hades. Hades will eventually be transferred along with all of its inhabitants to eternal hell, also known as 'Gehenna,' (Revelation 20:14).
