The 66 books that comprise the Bible were written on scrolls by about 40 men over a period of some 1,600 years.
It wasn't until A.D. 1228 that Stephen Langton put in chapter divisions.
Then the OT was divided into verses in A.D. 1448 by R. Nathan.
Then the NT was divided into verses in A.D. 1551 by Robert Stephanus.
So, although it's true that the Bible wasn't originally written in numbered chapters and verses, it was not one continuous text until the idea of books was invented. A collection of scrolls were kept in synagogues for what we now call the OT, and another collections of scrolls were kept by Christians for what we call the NT, though they also used all the OT scrolls. The invention of the printing press brought the entire collections together in printed form, into what is called The Holy Bible.

The Bible is actually a collection of books put together.
These books originally did not have numbered chapters and verses, correct.

Our numbering system as found in the Bible is a later addition.
Most would also be surprised to find out there wasn't any captial letters or spaces between the words.

In this sentence is the word 'man' could be understood as 'man' in general or as the name of the man Adam.

It is what it is. Truth is in the message that has lasted longer than your meager existence. Who do you think is more trustworthy?

the bible is a select collection of written biblical stories from over thousands... the councel of Nicea, a group of religious men and scholars got together to vote in which gospels they felt would best represent christianity at that time, they ordered the remaining thousands to be burned or destroyed.. who is to say that the books that were rejected were better or more accurate.. there are a few popping up now.. the dead sea scrolls. Gospel of Barnabas to name a couple.... .. there were no numbers.. just a bunch of written gospels..
