Where does all the sand come from in deserts? Lots and LOTS of sand.?

Update:

I could see an area devoid of water being bedrock or barren, but smothered in sand?

Update 2:

I know what sand is, but why does it choose deserts to accumulate in, instead of being blown away in the first windstorm? Why isn't all the sand settled in the oceans and arid places on land devoid of sand? I'd think that loose sand couldn't do anything BUT end up in the ocean.

Deserts were actually river beds or under oceans millions of years ago. The sand is rocks broken down into smaller pieces over the years.

The really white sand on beaches comes from Parrot Fish poop. I thought it was a joke too but look it up.

sand is big rocks ground down over time into fine particles.
