Astronomy: Is there a site which shows the Moon's position for a given time and latitude throughout the year?
I've been watching almost nightly for the past 3 months and am surprised by the South-to-North variation in the apparent lunar orbit, almost a 'basket weave' effect. What is actually happening?
6 AnswersAstronomy & Space2 years agoGeography: What percentage of the Earth's crust is not only above sea level, but north of the Equator?
Looking at a globe, most of the landmass is above the Equator. Not counting Antarctica, how much is left? Thank you.

New Moons happen every month...

Central US, late March, clear, calm. A regular white streak with uniformly spaced "puffs". Reminded me of a flying steam locomotive. The streak went clear across the sky with no craft visible. What sort of engine puffs out condensate?

The unopened container is dated 1981!

Sometimes adding ingredients increases the 'blah'. Sometimes not. Is there a time-tested cure to make sure everything tastes right?
25 AnswersCooking & Recipes3 years agoWhat is meant by the term "four-alarm fire"? Are there other alarm levels?
(I've never heard of a lesser or greater number given for a fire department emergency)
Law Enforcement & Police3 years agoAstronomy: What rocks on Earth are most like moon rocks?
If the moon came from the infant Earth, there must be some similar type rocks here.
Astronomy & Space3 years agoFood: What is the difference between Baby Swiss and regular Swiss cheese?
I've seen both at my U.S. grocery, but they appear identical, including the price. I tried the 'baby swiss' and it's identical, taste-wise, to 'grown-up' Swiss. Some marketing ploy, perhaps?
Other - Food & Drink3 years agoWas the late great Gene Wilder ever asked to be a guest on either Saturday Night Live or the Muppet Show?
His filmography says 'no' but he was such a talent, I would hope the answer is'yes'. Thank you.
Comedy3 years agoAstronomy and space: Are the Nazca lines at all visible from orbit?
I'm thinking not, and the markings were made just to say: "hey, look, we're here!" from earth to sky.
Astronomy & Space4 years agoWhat causes the Sahara Desert?
Its location on Earth suggests a moist, tropical climate, yet instead is very dry. Why does water avoid that part of the world?
