How come most people loathe the poor?

For no other reason than being poor. What’s the reason for the hostility?

    Most of us loathe the system we're under, late stage capitalism. Most people are poor.

    Because they smell. I absolutely hate the smell of poor people.

    A great number of people buy into the notion of American equality, and so they see those who are poor as being lazy. By keeping people under this belief, those in power are able to divide us all the more.

    They have pre-conceived ideas about poor people which are sometimes true but not always. Or they just want to hate someone else to feel better about their pathetic lives.

    It is easier to think that the poor are responsible for their lot in life than admit that but for the grace of god go I.

    Simple: They've spent years being brainwashed into thinking that poverty equals inferiority. As a result, they are very fearful of becoming impoverished. This manifests as hatred.
