The Atlanta Braves is the oldest team in continuous operation. First enfranchised in 1871 in the NAPBBP as the Boston Red Caps (they had connections to the first professional independent club, the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings). The NAPBPP gace way in 1976 for the National League still in existence today, and Boston was a charter member.
By 1912, the team were the Boston Braves, and they played in Beantown another 41 seasons. In 1953, they moved to Milwaukee just as a young Hank Aaron was coming up. They moved to Atlanta in 1966.

Although there is some debate over which team is the oldest in Major League Baseball, the Atlanta Braves are often considered the oldest continually operating baseball team in America. The team was established in 1871 as the Boston Red Stockings and it was one of the eight charter teams of the National League, which was established in 1876.
