Can the local government in a state be of a different party than the federal government?

So if the federal government is republican, and a local government be democrat?

    IN the USA, GOVERNMENTS do not belong to one party or another. The people who RUN the government can be of either party.

    Yes, of course. And did you mean a different party from our president? Because Congress is always made up of Democrats and Republicans, sometimes with an Independent or two. Please read the Constitution, and if you can, take a Civics class.
