How can I ensure my baby gets cute clothes at the baby shower that are gender specific if my husband doesn't want to know our baby's gender?

Baby shower is for you and not your husband so open the gifts then put it in a storage locker so he can’t find it. After the baby is born, take the stuff out of the storage locker.

Don't accept the offer of a shower until after the baby is born.

Is it really that difficult to figure out?

You can't ensure anything.  You can't even be sure you will have a shower. (According to past questions, you are only a few months along.  Has your best friend ALREADY offered to give you a shower?)

You can register for gifts and IF the guests ask you, you can tell them where you are registered.  And those gifts can include non-gendered baby clothes -- which can be almost any color or style. (We didn't find out the gender until baby was born. And our daughter was not naked or dressed only in yellow and green for her entire infancy. Lots of red and blue and brown, IIRC.)

And you get things you don't want or can't appreciate -- you thank the givers graciously and use them anyway, stuff them in a closet or regift them.

Ask for yellow, green, blue, white clothes. A bit can wear pink, a girl can wear blue. But it depends on how it's designed that makes it look a certain way. If you ask for cute neutral clothes, a lot of them will look like they were made for that specific gender .
