How do I stop my high e string from rusting?

A week ago my high e string snapped from my guitar and I replaced it with a new one from my teacher and after a few days of using it I noticed it started to get rusty so I tried my best to clean it with ainti bacteria spray and toothpaste and water but it keeps rusting

Wipe off the strings with a dry cloth after each playing. Get a set of better strings. Ernie Ball makes nice strings. Anti bacteria spray is bad to use on steel strings. Buy a few packs of strings and keep one in the guitar case.

Best to go buy a better quality string. Or stop using water products on it and try some wax.

Keep the guitar away from humid areas. Next the neck will warp!

william ellis has the long term solution. However, in the interim you could apply a very thin film of olive oil. Apply it sparingly with a cloth and that should stop the rust. Repeat from time to time.

Buy the gold coated strings from Germany and they'll last for years with no rusting by your sweaty hands.....they cost 30 bucks but worth the price.....if your a picker, thin strings I guess the ones you want to buy if not, medium...………...
