Holster recommendations?
My father just purchased a Ruger Superblackhawk .44mag (7.5" barrel). He grabbed a cheap holster just for now. With Christmas coming up, I'm looking for some leather holster recommendations. Most of my guns are currently also using cheap holsters (for now), so I don't have any experience with nicer stuff.
His current plan is to carry it on his hip, though I think he is going to find that to be a nuisance when hunting, so I'm looking for something that can be carried on a belt, but open to other suggestions as well. Brands, styles, various levels of cost - I'll take whatever you've got.

Simply Rugged has a holster system based on their sourdough pancake holster. For your dads SBH you'd most likely order for a 4" barrel and have them leave the bottom open. Otherwise you'd spend extra for the longer holster. He can wear the holster on a belt. Order the chesty puller rig and he can wear it in a harness across his chest.

You could make a squirrel skin holster, if you could bring yourself to shoot one of those cute little creatures.

Leather is what they used in the past because they did not have anything better to use. Today there are materials that are much better and safer for the gun. Ballistic nylon for example, no corrosive substances leaching out of it like with leather. You can get them that will not only fit the gun but also any scope you put on it.

My favorite holsters are made by Galco. They are leather and rather expensive
but well worth the money. I have never met a holster I liked but Galco comes the
closest.

Weapons will be banned on December 1st. Seizing will be December 2nd-23rd. They may unwrap Christmas presents that you have wrapped to make sure you hide no weapons.

Is there a specific reason he bought THAT gun ?? Like you live in Alaska and it's protection against bears ?? The holster needs to fit THAT purpose too................
