    Well...

You could invest thousands of dollars in high-grade cameras,

superb lenses, and a pricey DVR,

possibly resulting in being able to count hair follicles on a visitor's head

    via the monitor screen.

Do you really need that much?

    Probably not.

For most people, any of the common packaged CCTV systems will do.

They are all mostly the same, with many brands being sourced

from one of the same few far-east factories.

"Best" is something that everyone initially wants, but may not need let lone be able to afford.  Is a $5,000 system within your budget parameters?  I'd go to B&H and check out what they have - https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/browse/Surveillance...

Their website allows you to filter results by various features and price point.  And since they are a real camera store, you can call and speak with a trained professional.  Adorama.com may also have the same stock and customer service.  But certainly you can't do this with Amazon, and if you try, you get a million search results.
