Did my hairdresser do a bad balayage job?

It really doesn’t look any different from the color hair I had before. I wanted a blondish caramel at the bottom. First she bleached my hair then washed that out, and THEN covered the bleached spots with brown hair dye. She says that she can lighten it with a lightening creamer but I don’t want to do anymore damage to my hair. Any thoughts?

From your photo your hair looks one colour, a warm reddish brown. I'd leave it a few weeks and then go somewhere else, but to be honest you have lovely hair - it looks really good.

  • Balayage is supposed to look more natural but you should notice some contrast in the highlights. I don't notice much of a difference between the balayage and your current hair color. Maybe you should have gone for the lightening cream, you can deep condition your hair after the whole process to help reduce any damage.

I wouldn't call it a bad job, but she didn't do what you hoped she would do to your hair.

If you're not happy with your hair, go back to the salon talk to the manager / owner about it and get your color fixed. Salons usually fix color for free if you're not happy with it. If you do go back to fix your color, take a few pictures of the look you want with you to give the stylist an idea of what you want.
