I have never had a laser printer, but having said that I have never had any problems with inkjet printers. The cost of my first printer's black ink cartridge was £26 and it printed 500 full A4 pages. The cost of my current printer's black ink cartridge is £11 and it prints 100 pages. It depends on how much you pay for your printer, my current one is a value one which cost £29 new.

Laser. Although, initial cost is a bit higher

laser. the only normal maintenance is changing the empty toner out and it comes in an all but sealed package. plus, it is cheaper to operate [cost per page printed] and does not smear

Laser, even tri color. Jet printers near need daily maintenance.

Laser printers generally are easier and cheaper to maintain.

A - they are typically much more reliable than inkjet printers

B - the consumables (ink) are much less expensive per page printed than are inkjet printers
