what car would you choose?

I'm buying a car before I start college and I have 2 choices, a 2016 Toyota Camry se or a 2016 Honda Civic lx. Which would you advise me to choose and why? which one is the most reliable and gives you a bang for your buck? they are both similar in prices and mileage. Thanks in advance!!

You can buy any of them both are good. 2016 Toyota Camry and 2016 Honda Civic both are good. Both will get a slightly better fuel economy. 2016 honda Civic is mid-size, whereas, Toyota Camry is compact.

There are several factors that need to addressed, such as mileage on each. The next issue to me are "hidden costs". One of the possibly major ones is insurance. The Honda Civic is one of the most stolen cars in the USA. The insurance for this car will be more and in some locals it can be a very pretty penny more.

So I go with the  Camry.

You cannot go wrong with either choice. The Toyota Camry is built in Georgetown, Ky and the Civic is built in Greensburg, Indiana. So both are built in the U.S. The Civic is smaller than the Camry and not as luxerious. It will however get slightly better fuel economy. Drive them both and choose the one that you like driving the best. One will feel right for you.

They are both really good, very reliable cars. Me personally I would choose the Honda as long as it's American made, which most of them are anymore (most! some are made in Japan, some in Mexico). Toyota's are mostly manufactured over seas. They only seem to have one plant in the US, in Kentucky, so it's an import and parts for it can be expensive because of that.

An easy way to tell if a vehicle is American or Import is where the fuel door is. If it's on the drivers side it was manufactured in the US or Mexico, if it's on the passenger side it was built over seas. At least that's the old school easy way of telling where a car was built. It can also be told by the VIN sticker on the drivers side door panel.

I assume it's very possible most vehicles, other than the fuel door, are all built the same no matter where they're built nowadays. This is how the old school mechanics knew from a glance where a car was built.

Buy American. I'd go with the Honda.

Buy the Civic.  Camrys do not belong in a campus.  They might mistake you for the professor or the dean.

Is someone giving you this car?

If you are buying it, unless you have a spare $65000 or so sitting around, I wouldn't advise you purchase either of these. - $15K for the car and $50K for the education.Find a 2008 Camry or Civic, single owner, dealer maintained.

It will save you a bunch in the price of the car, insurance, registration.

Although it may have increased maintenance, it will still be a cost savings over the new-ish model.

Both are good cars. One is a compact the other a midsize.

Accord would be more comparable to Camry.

I prefer the Camry. It's totally up to you.
