Factor h(x)=x^3+3x^2−8x−30?
I already got (x-3)(x^2+6x+10), but for some reason it is said that the answer is wrong.

Maybe it wants you to factor it completely. This requires the set of complex numbers.
x^2 + 6x + 10 = (x+3)^2 + 1 = (x + 3 + i)(x + 3 - i)
Of course, unless there was an agreement that all instances of "factor" meant factor entirely, your answer is right.

= x³ + 3x² - 8x - 80
= x³ + (7x² - 4x²) - (28x - 20x) - 80
= x³ + 7x² - 4x² - 28x + 20x - 80
= x³ + 7x² + 20x - 4x² - 28x - 80
= (x³ + 7x² + 20x) - (4x² + 28x + 80)
= x.(x² + 7x + 20) - 4.(x² + 7x + 20)
= (x - 4).(x² + 7x + 20)
