What is a floating case?
I want to buy some lamps for my living room. They will be different types ie table/desk lamps, wall lamps etc. But they must have earthed cases not floating cases. Where is the best place to buy them from, I am in the UK?

Most lamps are double insulated and do not require an earth. You would only need to consider earthing if the casing was subtantially of metal and there are plenty of those available in the UK (most lamps are imported) - just look for the BSI kitemark or conformance with ISO standards.

I don't understand the question. Here in the UK, all lamps conform to safety standards. Some are earthed, some are double insulated and do not require earthing.
