Senior citizens, do you still go 'all out' for Christmas..decorating, gift giving, etc.?

The last few years I haven't even put up a table top tree.  With my family gone, I just don't feel energetic enough for the effort.

I've started putting up table top trees.  It's just my husband and me, and neither of us is in very good condition, so we don't do a lot of decorating.  The kids go all out at their respective houses, however, because the grandkids love all of the "to-do".

No, I have dumbed down the whole festival a great deal.  Very few people really believe the true Christmas story and wish to mock those of us who do.  I sent only 2 cards by post (those 2 do not have have the internet).  The others I email (saves postage also).  I don't wrap any gifts but give money (only modest amounts as no-one in my family is in need of anything at all. That doesn't mean they are rich but they can afford all they need and gifts become unwanted CLUTTER.  Several of us get together for a meal in the biggest house in the family and just enjoy the day very modestly - no-one ends up broke.

I celebrated the solstice today. I no longer celebrate secular holidays, designed to make the rich even richer. Especially when they are pretending that it's "religious". I haven't decorated since the kids went away to college in the early 80s.

My husband and I are 60 and still working. We have our adult son at home who works all the time.  Our daughter and her husband won’t make it in for the holidays this year. So no tree. I have made things festive. Nutcrackers and lights on the mantel. My son put up the Christmas village. Dining room has Christmas linens and a centerpiece.

But I use the decorate the entire banisters in garland and lights. Two trees. One a ten footer.  Wreaths up. Lights outside.  Don’t do that anymore.

After we sold our big house, we kept all the decorations.  If you have only 1/2 the room, it looks like twice the decorations.  People may think that I have stepped up my game.  But it is about the same.
