How to stop feeling bored and miserable?
I really want 2020 to be a good year for me. Last year I just felt so bored and miserable a lot of the time and this year I wish to change that. Please, if you have any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

Someone here asked what the benefits of mindfulness are. I mentioned a few things including the fact that mindfulness gives you a different point of view about boredom. Something boring like sweeping the floor can be meditation. Having nothing to do is not bad.
In this answer, I have info about good ways to learn.
A lot of people say hobbies are good. A problem with hobbies is that they generally involve learning new skills, which can be frustrating. However, there's a really clever guy who has analyzed this problem (video, below).

One of the best things for boredom is taking on responsibilities, because this involves an element of risk. I realize that at your age your ability to take on responsibilities is limited, but give it some thought. There's probably a club or two at your school that you could join. The Internet has volunteer tips lists for teenagers.

follow the advice of Acts 20:35 "there is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving". Consider volunteering at a shelter, senior or youth organization. That'll make you feel good and busy.

I recommend you to do the boring meditation and miserable meditation, just like anger meditation. You can read the book "Journey into now" to learn how to do the meditation.
