Is this what trump meant by disproportionate response?

Trump has been told by the Pentagon that a war with Iran is definitely a very bad idea for various reasons. Iran is a very large country for starters.  You also have to look at the topography of the country.  You were hoping for carpet bombing!  Think about the ramifications if that were to happen.  For starters no American anywhere in the world would be safe as they would be fair targets. The continental US would be fair game for being targeted.  The US would lose the little credibility it has left and would be seen as being no better than a rogue state which needs to be reigned in by whatever means possible. As for imposing more sanctions that is no way to get Iran to the bargaining table. The US created this mess in the Middle East beginning with its support of the Shah and further exacerbated the problem when it invaded Iraq. Hopefully the EU ignores Trump's call to walk away from the Iran nuclear deal and NATO tells the US to clean up its own mess.  Just for curiosity why do Americans think the military is the only solution to a problem?  Maybe if they tried diplomacy the US might get better results. 

It wasn't clear that it was an attack on the base. They missed by too much for the weapons they have. They didn't want to hit it.

He is scared. Iran is not as big but it has a great military history. I respect Iran.
