Getting a mortgage without a green card?

Hello, if someone is looking to get a mortgage on a house, but all he has is a social security number, and work license, no green card. Can he get the mortgage?

    You can't have a SSN without a green card unless it's stolen.

    Yes, I am pretty sure. Needs good credit.

    Yes.....but you would have to pay cash or have other income rather than a working income.

    Yes.   Non-permanent residents with proper work visas can obtain mortgages in the USA.   They can even get FHA mortgages.   Freddie Mac's requirement are basically the same for those who hold green cards vs. work visa. 

    The main hurdle for many foreigners is that if they haven't been in the country very long, they may have a difficult time meeting basic lending criteria such as an adequate credit score and being able to prove an adequate history of income.
