He won a majority of votes in both Louisiana and South Carolina.  It was a safe space for him.  A self selected sample from those two states is statistically invalid as a representation of the US as a whole.

I think the polls we hear about from the Democrats have to hide the lower volume of pro-Democrat sentiment. Think about it. They are obviously against a whole lot, negative and unfair in what they do, continuously. People notice. I don't remember any white president gaining so much support from the Blacks whether it was Democrat or Republican. Gays are coming out for Trump. Where are they coming from? I don't think the Democrats are focused on making friends. That isn't a good political strategy.
