My bearded dragon stopped eating? ?

He's in a 40 gallon tank, zoo med heat bulb's and a zoo med hood uvb bulb as well. Temperature on the cool side is around 80 farenheit and hot side is 100 Fahrenheit. He use to eat kale, endives, and cabbage all the time and slowly refused to eat them. So I've been substituting the vegetables with vegetable baby food. For bugs he eats the zoo med superworms (cooked) as a treat occasionally and wax worms. He stopped eating 3 days ago. I noticed he hasn't gone to the bathroom so I gave him a warm bath and massaged his stomach and he did go to the bathroom. He then ate 5 wax worms, and I force fed him some kale, and the next day hes back to not eating? He's very active and is acting like nothing is wrong with him. I dont have anything tall in his tank or rough in his tank for him to harm himself on, he has a green mat as substrate and I do use calcium powder on his worms. Ik I need to take him to the vet, but I'm just wondering if anyone has advice to help stimulate his appetite it would be greatly appreciated.

There is nothing to be concerned with. Not eating for a few days will not hurt him. Reptiles can go without food for months. May be his cage temperature just isn't warm enough. Reptiles lose their appetites if they are not warm enough because food can rot in their gut and kill them if temperature is not warm enough. You are using heating lamps from above. Since heat rises, the temperature at floor level may be too cold.  The temperature figures you give may only be valid at the top of the cage, not where your dragon is located. You can try a heating pad that can be placed inside his cage, and he can contact it to get warm. Or you can put a 15-25 watt incandescent bulb under his cage to heat it from below. You will find that it is more economical to do so than to use a 100watt bulb from above.  Once he is warm, he will feel like eating again.

How old is he? Is he about to shed? Is it cold where you are? Not uncommon, but heated tank or not, sometimes reptiles in captivity will still try and enter brumation, a period of inactivity and yes, little eating. Also, messing with his diet too much and deviating from his normal foods may cause more harm than good. His stomach may not cope with it too well and he will refuse everything because changing it up too rapidly is causing him some stomach issues.

My bearded went through this too, and when I took him to the vet, it turned out to be mild constipation and my vet thought that he was possibly allergic to kale. I removed the kale from his diet and things went back to normal.
