I have a Nissan 2011 the gas flap won't open unless you press the lock-unlock button several time ?
it will work pressing the lock-unlock button on the door handle or key fob. when it does open there is nothing wrong with the lock even had a mechanic look at it. I have heard that other people with this make & model have the same problem. they think the car's computer thinks that the doors are locked when they are not. (haha I know a computer doesn't think.) What can I do my car is out of gas & I can't open the gas flap. now it's to the point that doesn't even work.
The mechanic looked at it when the gas flap was open & said there was nothing wrong with the gas flap lock.

Terrible design when a simple cable has worked for decades. Engineers probably wanted a mechanical back up (cable) but got overruled by the "bean counters".
Try all of these (from a Nissan owners website):
Unlock the fuel-filler door using one of the following operations:
● Unlock the driver’s door with the key fob.
● Unlock the driver’s door with the key.
● Push the power door lock switch to the unlock position.
● Push the door handle request switch.
Nothing works, read the owner's manual on the procedures to disconnect the battery and disconnect the battery for an hour.
Still no luck, take the car to a dealer. Gas flap lock solenoid or actuator could be broken or not getting power when door is unlocked.
