How do I incorporate my faith into my wedding?

I was raised in a Lutheran Christian household. I am now a firm believer in the Advaita philosophy, most commonly associated with classic hinduism. I want to incorporate my faith into my wedding. I have studied the ways in which traditional hindu weddings are carried out. I want to do a ‘fusion’ using aspects of a traditional American wedding and that of a hindu ceremony. Would this be odd (or even appropriation?) as I was not born into a hindu household and I am not Indian nor is my fiance?

Are you getting married in a church / religious building, or having a non-faith based ceremony?

Would your alterations make it difficult for your witness to understand what is going on in your ceremony? Be so unfamiliar as to make your those in attendance uncomfortable?

So you had the truth and jumped into absurdity!

Frankly getting back to the truth is more important than anything you do in your wedding!

If you haven't cultivated a collection of Hindi friends you can ask what would be okay to use and what would be best to avoid, then yes it would likely be appropriative. If you have this collection of friends ask them.
