    tan 3x = - 1 ===> 3x = - π / 4 + nπ ===> x = - π / 12 + 4nπ / 12 for n =1,2,3,4,5,6....n = 6 is 23/12 π

    Ask yourself, tan(of_what) gives -1 ? This, you should know, or imagine your trig circle. Your asnwer will follow.

    tan(3π/4) = tan(7π/4) = -1

    x = π/4, 7π/12
